Are you a professional looking for a career change or a parent exploring possible career choices with your child? Either way, you can not go wrong pursuing a career in STEM!

As the US economy continues to evolve, employment in STEM is expected to grow to over 9% of the US workforce by 2022. STEM salaries range from the high 60s to mid-to-high 100s. The wide variation is due to the area of expertise and job location. Also, while many of these roles require college degrees, there are some that place more emphasis on certifications and experience given technology changes at an incredible pace.

We recommend checking out this presentation from the Bureau of Labor Statistics https://www.bls.gov/careeroutlook/2014/spring/art01.pdf. It is a bit dated but provides an excellent overview of what constitutes STEM jobs, their growth potential, general salary ranges and projected job count by state.
One last thing, you or your child doesn't need to be a science or math whiz to qualify and excel in a STEM career. There are so many supporting roles such as business analyst, project manager, etc. that are critical to the success of the "hard core" STEM jobs. So, definitely do some research before excluding this in demand career field.
Good luck and go make it happen!
